This always happens! The minute I crank up the exercise the weight loss grinds to a halt.
No loss to report this week… Grrr!
I do have an NSV, but it’s kind of personal. Let’s just say that, after many years, I’m on top of things.
I had only one indiscretion eating wise – a pasta salad from the grocery store. Other than that I ate really well and loved it.
I’m still faithful to my No Meat Athlete 30-day Challenge – so sugar, no alcohol, no bread and no coffee. No sweat.
We had one kitchen mishap – I misread a recipe and our soup turned out much thinner and runnier than it should have been. I served it in mugs, but will probably not hear the end of it for a while! It was really tasty though.
I remarked to one of my gym buddies after aqua and swimming on Saturday that I felt really tired. I had a 5K walk planned for that afternoon, but we had some rain, and I was secretly relieved. Then the sun came out again and I forced myself to go for that walk. I did 1K and called it a day. My body really was too tired and lame. I couldn’t even get a proper walking rhythm going. The lesson here is to listen to your body. I’ve added a lot of extra exercise to my schedule in one week and my body is feeling it.
I rested on Sunday and will hopefully get a few 5K walks in between now and Friday. But it’s okay if I don’t (there is some rain forecast for later in the week). I’m not letting anyone down – not even myself. I’m still going to aqua class and swimming. And I will be fine walking 5K in the Women’s Day event on Sunday regardless.
All in all, I feel good. Healthy, happy and encouraged. Motivated and focused.
I’m still doing it.
PS. Remember, it’s:
The kind people at Meatless Monday made this badge especially for me, or at least at my request.

Remember. Nothing tastes as good as thin feels!!!

@cmoursler: I never worried about what I looked like – I just couldn’t get there or stay there or do anything there! I was a like a hood ornament.
you re so right. the lesson is always to listen to the body and (sigh) the lesson is always patience huh?
the scale will move next week—-stick with what youre doing (both the activity AND the listening!!)

I unsubscribed when you stopped blogging, and missed you. Imagine my delight to find you here again, as enthusiastic and inspiring as ever! So glad you’re back. I saw your video post, and wow, girl, do you look GOOD! Love the new hairstyle, and the vibrancy you glow with.
Wow, and you are *active*!
Are you preparing for the Totalsports Women’s Day Ladies challenge? We have the Spar Women’s Challenge up here on the 22nd of August. Good luck!
And really, I’m so thrilled that I peeked in and found you going strong. You are an INSPIRATION, truly.

Don’t worry too much about the scale! As I lost my weight, I just knew if I kept doing what I should be doing the scale would move again, and it did! I’m joining you for Meatless Monday! (We usually have vegetarian meals about 4 days a week – so I’ll just make sure it’s Monday!)

I absolutely adore you and your blog, Ms. Hanlie.
Congrats on your NSV! (Lmao @ Hood Ornament comment!)
You are doing an amazing job on your weight loss journey and I am so proud of ya. Sometimes the scale doesn’t say what we want, but the most important thing is how we feel about ourselves. And seeing how you are “on top” of things, I would say you are feeling pretty good! LoL
Have a wonderful week! You are AWESOME.

Your muscles are just hanging on to water in order to repair themselves.
Next week ….
It’s not a race afterall and you are so much healthier on all counts than a year ago.
You’ve really stuck with it … that’s exceptional. The statistics prove you’ve by far & away
surpassed the time frame past which people don’t make it with their programs.
You have so much to be proud of.

Hanlie, I wouldn’t worry a bit about the scale. I would be careful about adding too much at once though. Perhaps you need to add new things at a little slower pace to allow your body more time to get used to it. Whatever you do, don’t let the scale get you down.

OMG I’m laughing at your response to cmoursler! It’s funny – I was on top of things yesterday too, after a LONG while. I always feel like I’m going to cause damage up there, lol.
I’m a big fan of resting when the body calls for it – no need to drive yourself into the ground!

So happy you are staying positive! It can be hard when the results we are hoping for don’t show (at least on the scale) I know for me it’s a fast derailer!
good for you girl!!!
the “Meatless Monday” thing cracks me up… I EAT meat maybe once a week.
Maybe I should have a RAW Monday! rev things up!
Happy Monday

@Cindy: Oh I agree with you! But we have to start somewhere… I think it’s all a process and showing people that they can go without meat for one day is a good thing. For a lot of people one day will turn into more, and maybe a lifestyle. It’s all about education.
Good for you for knowing when to stop on your walk- some days we just aren’t up for it.
Well done on the challenge! That’s impressive that you have cut those things out and are going so strong.

good for you for actually stepping it up though, if i could just get my ass moving i think i’d feel better about myself in general.
Hi Hanlie,
Congratulations on the exercise! You are doing an awesome job! Exercise changes everything.
I think you may have built some muscle this week and you will see a nice drop next week. \
You are an inspiration to me!

Awh, sorry to hear about the scale… it will come off soon enough. Seems like you are making really healthy decisions and working out hard! It will pay off soon enough.
Hanlie,
You are very smart to listen to your body. When it tells you to rest you need to rest. I have heard of many people who stop losing weight when they start more exercise. My Mom is one of them. What I have noticed though is her body has changed and she looks more fit than ever, but is the same weight. Weird how it all works but keep it up regardless!
XO

Maybe your scale and mine can hang out together for the month, shall I send Ken over to hide it for you?
You know you’re doing whats best for your body, it will just take your body a little bit of time to catch up with you. But I know you know that already

You do such an awesome job of making healthy choices. You are my hero! And I didn’t have any meat today, not even knowing it was meatless Monday.
I don’t eat much of it anyway. No red meat at all for years. I did have some Oreos today in honor of Kim’s mom.

Ah, I know your frustration. Even though you know you did the right things and are content enough with that, a little budge from the scale is still nice to see. Arrgh! I know you’ll hang in there regardless, but I’ll still cross my fingers that the bugger isn’t quite so miserly next week.
