In my recent travels through the internet I came across the following interesting articles and blog posts and I though I’d share, because I’m generous that way.
I’ve been reading a lot about coconut oil and its health benefits lately. I’ve been using it for cooking for a while now as it’s the most stable oil at higher temperatures. I also use it on my face and it’s made my skin soft and supple. I will probably do a whole post about it soon, but in the mean time, you can win a 32 Fl. oz. jar of Tropical Traditions Virgin Coconut Oil by leaving a comment on the relevant post on Earthmother‘s blog. And while you’re there, take a look at her Friday Food Porn pictures (here and here and here)… It’s all raw and organic and I’ve been tempted to lick the screen on occasion! Who says healthy food has to be boring?
Have you ever gone to a restaurant with the idea of ordering the healthiest dish on the menu, only to be sorely disappointed and feeling ripped off? Of course you have! Either the dish was not as healthy as you’d expected, or it was boring and bland. Especially when you’re following a high raw, vegan diet, eating out can be a minefield. But my friend Earthmother has a brilliant strategy – one I’m definitely going to adopt. She’s been getting the best food in the house!
Another dear blogging friend of mine, Evita from Evolving Wellness, had a very significant (and timeous for me) post about the connection between our thoughts and our health. I really urge you to read this and watch the video… It has the potential to change your life for the better.
This blog post really got me motivated this week! I was jumping higher, running faster and diving further than everybody because of it!
As you know, the hysteria surrounding Swine Flu, or H1N1, is escalating daily. Evita wrote a sobering article in June about this topic, while Doctor Mercola this week strongly cautioned against mandatory Swine Flu vaccinations. I would suggest you read these articles very carefully before considering a vaccination, either for yourself or your children.
Not sure how to feed your kids healthy foods on road trips this summer? Take a leaf from Shannan’s book and try these wonderful ideas. They’re not just for kids!
Out of the mouth of babes… Learn about Real Food with a 9-year old cancer survivor in this delightful video:
Let’s just hope that we don’t have to go through what she’s been through before we change the way we eat.
Keep it REAL, people!
And have a great weekend!

Awesome post and thanks so much for the “linky love” on Shannan’s post!

Cute idea for the dining card. I think I must be very lucky that the wait staff in my area of town are really helpful in making sure I get as close to healthy foods as I can. The other day I went into one of my fav sandwich shops and the waiter actually remembered that I didn’t want toasted (w/butter) bread. I had forgotten that’s how they prepared it! They do try. But a little cue card wouldn’t hurt.
have a great weekend, Hanlie!

Another wonderful post! I absolutely loved the video with the little girl. Isn’t it fabulous to see someone who really “gets it” at such a young age? Of course, look what she’s been through. Here’s hoping her love of real food will keep her vibrant and healthy well into old age!

Good morning Hanlie (or afternoon probably to you
Great and interesting links. I definitely have been dissapointed once or twice upon something I “thought” was going to be healthy and than getting, something not worth the money, so I am very excited to go over and read EarthMother’s post.
And thank you for including me in your Friday linky love!!! You are such a sweetheart – ALWAYS!!!!
In terms of the Swine Flu, the WHO and the US are preparing for a mass vaccination as we speak, and the WHO apparently admitted that the vaccine is “risky” to say the least, so people really, really need to hear about this and know that they DO have a choice. There are so many clauses one can use to not be subjected to this vaccine – but education is key first!

What an interesting idea for the business card at the restaurant! That’s brilliant.
