I was particularly struck by the Roosevelt quote. So, so true.

Prevention is at the heart of it all. Even the healthiest of us is not immune to all illness. Sometimes, it really is the luck of the draw. But there is so much that we can do to lead healthier, happier lives.

The biggest obstacle to prevention, as you point out, is greed. Eating healthy foods, walking to the corner store instead of driving, not giving in to Big Food and Big Pharma–none of this is sexy. Think of how much money Big Pharma would lose if we started eating better and exercising more and stopped using so much blood pressure medication!

Think of how much cleaner the air would be if people stopped equating happiness with owning a big SUV or eating quarter-pounders with cheese, fries and a Coke at McD’s (yes, cattle are huge contributors to global warming!).
