We live only to discover beauty

That’s what Kahlil Gibran says.  Now Fat Bridesmaid has challenged me to live a little more and discover my own beauty.  She wants to know:

What are your favorite physical attributes?  No back-handed compliments, only short, declarative sentences that ooze confidence.  Brag a little!

Where shall I start?

-  The feature that earns me the most compliments is my eyes.  They are a clear, deep blue and I often wear colors that accentuate my eyes.

-  I really like my nose.  It’s got a nice shape and size.

-  My mouth isn’t bad either.  My lips are neither too full, nor too thin.  My teeth are very good -  straight and healthy, without being too perfect.

-  As for my body, I’ve always liked the fact that I was tall, strong and imposing.  I have a large frame and when I don’t carry extra weight, an hour-glass figure with womanly hips, broad shoulders and large breasts.

-  My feet are well shaped with the toes lying in neat rows from big to small.

-  I have thick, straight hair.

This picture was taken in November 1995, when I was already quite overweight, probably about 50 pounds.  All I can say is that I should get photographed using soft-focus more often!  And no, I don’t have any pictures of my feet…

What about you?  Which of your features do you find beautiful?

Beauty is about perception, not about make-up. I think the beginning of all beauty is knowing and liking oneself. You can’t put on make-up, or dress yourself, or do you hair with any sort of fun or joy if you’re doing it from a position of correction.  ~ Kevyn Aucoin

Your eyes really are fabulous. The picture is GREAT, but it really highlights how lovely your eyes are. I also like my feet and, therefore, must always have a pedicure (even in the winter). :) (BTW, thanks for the Eat to Live book recommendation — I’m off to amazon to order it now.)

Hanlie, you are a beautiful woman, soft focus or not! I’ve always loved the wedding photo posted in your profile. Your eyes, your smile… just lovely!

I like the idea behind this post. I think I’ll do it, as well. I need a little boost to my self-confidence. Thanks for the idea!
