Food Matters
Posted on Apr 15, 2008 under Health, Diet and Lifestyle |Even though I haven’t had any in 75 days, food does matter. Most people are so hung up on the quantity of food they eat that totally disregard the quality of food they eat.
We’ve been brainwashed in our society to believe that drugs and surgery cure diseases. In fact, not only do the right kinds of food prevent degenerative diseases and strengthen the immune system, thereby protecting us against infectuous diseases, but the right food can heal you too! I have read so many accounts of people who have turned their health around by adopting a natural diet. Just last night I read this story by Bell Chung, who eschewed conventional medical treatment for her cervical cancer in favour of a lifestyle change. Less than a year later she was completely cancer free and healthier than ever. What an inspiration!
My own darling husband made an interesting observation the other day. Someone had damaged something expensive of his through negligence and stupidity and when he told me about it he said, “Fortunately I don’t eat meat anymore, or I would have #$@%ed him up! I am much less aggressive now.” That is very true! In dietary trials in prisons it’s been found that when meat was removed from the prisoners’ diet, the incidence of violence decreased significantly. Ever wonder why vegetarians seem so peaceful? It’s because they are!
People all over the world are starting to realize that food matters. This is a trailer for an upcoming movie about that very subject. I can’t wait to see the movie.

Has anybody else had problems with Youtube lately? I am now using Vimeo, because Youtube is just so frustrating.

Well, I will definitely have to keep my eyes open for that. Is it going to be a theatrical release?
I love the point made about our HAVING A CHOICE. When did people stop thinking for themselves? I hate how we have given it all up to corporations, governments, etc. Take your life into your own hands and be responsible for your own decisions.
I’ve never heard of Vimeo–will also check that out. Never had too many problems with YouTube but I usually just look at other people’s posts

Another interesting read as always! I will check out the video this afternoon. I have used YouTube once lol I have no clue about the other one you mentioned. Does that mean you might have a video on here somewhere? *hint hint*
Hope you are having a super day!

Oh, god! That movie is scary! You must let us know when it’s out; I have to see it. Thank goodness I’m making lifestyle changes. *whew*
My husband have never had meat, and he’s so calm and so kind. I wonder if there’s a connection.

TAG! Check my blog for details
And very interesting read for sure… what is it in meat that causes more violence? Do you think it is a hormonal thing?

I couldn’t agree with you more about food. I had a friend who was diagnosed with an inopperable brain tumor. The Dr’s likened it to a spiderweb in his brain, and gave him 6 months to live with aggressive invasive rounds of kemo and radiation. He went the natural route and used herbal remidies, went totally organic. He lived another 6 years, married his girlfriend, built his house and made it to see his daughter’s 4th birthday.
I often wonder why we (myself included) think we should wait until we’re sick before we take action. Your blog has been inspirational in my quest for healthier living.
On an unrelated note - Just read the past few blog posts about the South African plight. Im horrified and speechless, and I can’t imagine living daily with that kind of fear. As an US Citizen, these posts made me feel more grateful than I have felt in a long while in terms of which country I call home, sickened by our current administration’s obsessive need to interfere in the middle east, while ignoring the human suffering elsewhere, and humbled beyond words. Thank you for sharing.

Food heals …..and I agree to the T….home remedies are always what my mom supports…..and being vegetarian gives you a high and inner peace…..while I lived in Denmark I was the only vegetarian at office and my colleagues though meat eaters appreciated that and always felt that my calmness mostly comes from it… I connected to your post instantly….nice one, hanlie

Your blog is truly inspirational! I’ve been following Gillian Mckeith’s “You are what you eat” plan and it has totally changed the way I look at food! Thank you for another interesting read!

That trailer is fascinating. It is so true - we have what need here. It is so scary what the US FDA allows to be sent out to the grocery store shelves, and we buy it and eat it and never question it. I have some in-laws who are battling chronic illness, and prefer to live on take-out meals or fast food, and I always try to gently steer them toward a healthier diet, usually to no avail. Eating well is hard work, and takes effort. Shopping for proper foods, cleaning, chopping and preparing them - don’t get me wrong, it is time well spent, but I think most people see it as drudgery.
