Spot the difference!
A group of German researchers tested whether packaged food lived up to expectations. They purchased a number of packaged food items, photographed the packaging, then prepared the food according to the instructions and took some more pictures. This is just a few of them, but you can see more on this German website.
This one seems to be the closest to the picture…
I also believe that they don’t deliver when it comes to taste and nutrition. So why are we still buying these products?

I guess we’re buying the ideas, not the product. Idea of delicious, quick and easy meal. But the taste of the product, not even close to the idea itself. Maybe we buy because we’re addicted to perfectionism. When everything looks perfect and gorgeous we want one.

Excellent point, why indeed!? Though I find it telling that the candy (ie Chocolate) looks the closest like its photographic counterpart. Coincidence? Nah, chocolate is just that good.
Kidding… sort of. Usually if I have a craving for chocolate I hit the organic dark stuff. It takes less to satisfy, and even has some medicinal uses.

Oh wow - what mostly gross pictures! Great point Hanlie, I hope that triggers people to think twice before they purchase these products or believe the front cover.

That is hilarious. I love the sausage and the cheeseburger. My husband’s old boss once went to a fast food restaurant, I think it was taco bell, and ordered. When he got his food he took it back up to the counter and said that his didn’t look anything like the picture and he wanted it made like the picture. They did it. They added more food to it. Pretty amazing isn’t it.

That is pretty cool! I am ALWAYS disappointed when I buy frozen food and it turns out completely different than the way it’s advertised, and it’s pretty interesting to see the results of those researchers found. Thanks for posting!
