The prodigal returns

Craig heard a familiar pathetic meowing at the front of the house during the night and jumped up to investigate. Yes, it was Pepper! She said a quick hello and then made a beeline for the foodbowl. Poor baby had quite an adventure!
She must have gotten to the front of the house over the roof and not been able to get back. The she must have wandered out the gate into the street and maybe got lost. Scared and confused she would have hidden out somewhere safe and only started looking for home when all was quiet again at night. Fortunately Bonnie spends a lot of time on the sidewalk (she rolls over for everyone who walks past - slut!) and in the front and her familiar smell must be all over. Clever kitty, for finding her way home and not getting run over by a car. She’s only six months old!
I have now removed the barriers between the front and the back, so that she can come and go freely. Lavis also can’t get back over the roof, although Bonnie can. Lavis rarely goes to the front, and if she does, she “knocks” on the front door when she wants to come back. Craig’s found her a few times actually hanging onto the front door! Now they’ll both be able to use the side entrance again, which I’d blocked when we got Pepper.
I’m just so relieved that Pepper is unharmed and safely back! Thank you all for the positive energy you sent this way! It certainly helped.

I had a kitty once that followed me to the dentist one day when I walked there. She sat outside the door and waited for me. When I came out she was gone. That night before bed I called for her but she didn’t come. I was worried because she always came in at night when I called. On a whim - I drove back to the dentist’s office (it was 11 PM) and there she was - still waiting patiently at the door! (She must’ve run off to chase a mouse or something when I left the first time and didn’t see me go!)
Cats are wonderful!
