I deserve better

Getting my lifelong weight struggle under control has come from a process of treating myself as well as I treat others in every way.  ~ Oprah Winfrey

Krissie did a brilliant post yesterday about getting healthy because we love and respect ourselves.  She’s had it with the negative self-talk and composed “I LOVE ME” list.  THE ONLY RULE: No backhanded compliments. No “I like my eyes ’cause they distract from my incredibly large ass.” Only positives.  Here’s mine:

1. What do you absolutely love about your body?  My body is strong and imposing.  I am tall and when thin, have an hourglass figure.  My blue eyes attract a lot of  compliments, but I actually love my whole face.  And my feet aren’t too bad either.

2. When did you surprise yourself with your physical strength?  When I started doing Pilates and yoga.  There were so many things I thought I wouldn’t be able to do, but I managed. And got better at it quickly.

3. When were you braver than you ever thought you could be?  When I quit my job and trusted my husband to take care of me.  That was a huge leap of faith.

4. When did your self-control blow you away?  Whenever I’m with my family…  They can be so thoughtless sometimes, but I bite my lip and let it roll off me.  That last part took a long time to learn, but now I can do it.

5. What is your proudest moment ever?  This past New Years Eve, when I realized that I had made enormous progress on my journey in 2007.  I had really come a long way!

6. When was the last time you felt absolutely beautiful?  One night when Craig and I were still dating, he was already asleep when I came to bed.  He stirred in his sleep, saw me and sleepily said “You are so incredibly beautiful” and went straight back to sleep!

7. Why do you deserve to meet your goals?  Because I’m worth it!  I want to live the best life that I can.  I want my body to reflect the beauty that is within me.  And, very importantly, I want to be a mother.

Thank you so much for playing!

I agree that I too have been blown away about how quickly I have gotten stronger. How I do pilates and can’t get anything right, and try again three days later and can do it halfway right!

I really value your support in blogland, to myself and others. Thanks for all you do!
